Need help on fuel ratio

Just picked up a kiddie kart with a comer 50 engine on it. Read on some forums proper fuel ratio is 8:1. Mixed that and engine barely moves from a dead stop and wants to cut out. Took carb apart and cleaned it out. Bought a new main 56 jet and installed. Started it up and it was better but still barely runs on starts. Talked to someone else on fuel ratio and they tell me run 50:1. Any help would be appreciated don’t want to run engine dry of oil. Tia

8 to 1 sounds like a lot of oil.
16 to 1 sounds more like it. less oil if you run in cold weather. 8 ounces per gallon. I think most use this.
21 to 1,Some use redline and 6 ounces per gallon.
50 to 1 would be about 3 oz per gallon.

I'm sure they meant 8 ounces to a gallon not 8:1.

8 ounces per gallon is 16:1 which is the most oil I would run.

4 ounces per gallon is 32:1 which is the least oil I would run.

For 2 Strokes using Conventional 2 Stroke Oils, like Amsoil Interceptor:
20:1 Early 1960's
32:1 Late 1960's
40:1 1970's
50:1 Since about 1973 All Factory Oil Injection went to 50:1, Still Industry Standard today 2018!

For 2 Strokes using Full Synthetic 2 Stroke Oils: Like Amsoil Saber, Hirths Blue Max, etc.
80:1
90:1
100:1

You want to use 2 Stroke Oils that have a High Flash Point! When they go from Oil to Ash!

2. Bel-Ray H1-R has a flashpoint of 435.2 degrees
3. Motul 800 2T Factory Line "Road Racing" is 284 degrees.
4. Amsoil Saber Outboard is 248 degrees.
5. Maxima K2 has a flashpoint of 240 degrees.
6. Amsoil Saber Professional is 237 degrees.
7. Redline Racing Synthetic is 217.
8. Pennzoil Multi-purpose 2 cycle oil is 212 degrees.
9. Bel-Ray MC-1 is 208.4 degrees.
10. Golden Spectro 2T is 205 degrees.
11. Amsoil Dominator is 198 degrees.
12. Spectro "Golden" SX is 196 degrees.
13. Spectro "Platinum" SX is 191 degrees.
14. Amsoil Interceptor is 187 degrees.
15. Golden Spectro Injector is 178 degrees.
16. Valvoline 2 Stroke motorcycle oil is 172 degrees.
17. Torco GP-7 is only 174 degrees
