New to Animals

I got two in a buyout and am running the “slow one.” It seems pretty powerful to me but last night was the first time on a kart since 2002. Anyway, I can never leave anything alone, I like to tinker. I’m reading where folks are using a flathead crank and changing the crank gear. So that will add .238 to the stroke. That’s pretty good. Will that require a lot of clearancing or is it pretty close? Also, I have a .200 stroker flathead crank. I would imaging that would require a lot of clearancing if it’s even doable. Has anyone used a stroker flathead crank in an animal. That would be a .438 over stroke giving 15CI with a standard bore. Just asking, I’ve not even opened one up yet.

The flat head stroke fits quite nicely in an Animal block but You'll have a whole lot of work to do to put the extra .200 stroke in there and the reliability will be gone.
