I recently purchased a phantom chassis from a guy and I've tore it down sanded repainted it made me a throttle cable throttle rod made a brake rod cleaned all parts which were in pretty good shape replaced bolts ordered brake pads got a new predator 212 cc ..the guy I got it from gave me some wheels and tires just to go by but I wanna race dirt oval and would like to know what size goes where on kart ..any help would be greatly apprecited

generaly 10in. right sides 8-9in left rear 6 1/2 in, front left

welcome to bobs4cycle i run a big HP outlaw class and mix up sizes on left rear alot , someone else will chime in to narrow down a good starting size for your left rear wheel for you

If I just do air filter and jets and header and possible flywheel what class would that put me in and how much more HP do you think I'd get from my predator 6.5

What's your age and weight? Have you visited the track you want to race at?

I'm 40 and 140 lbs ..lol yea I'm skinny and I've watched videos from the guy I bought my chassis from of the track its in Marbury, alabama

you will get enough power to have a good time with . just remember if you are just starting out dont go overboard and try to get up front in the race rite off the bat . it is verry hard to do , and expensive . getyou a nice used chassis , used clone and clutch and some decent tires . and have some fun and getyour seat time in befor investing alot of money . becouse the return of $$ just aint always there for kart racers .

Your right I am just afraid of blowing that motor up right off the bat without putting a rod and flywheel on it ...I don't wanna go into the motor yet your right I just wanna learn and have fun at the same time...all these parts places say put a flywheel on it if governor is removed but you gotta go into motor to remove governor on predator but I put a Tue wrap on the spring g and loosened the a crew I
On the throttle so it pulls all the way do you think that's as good as removing it from inside the motor

Go to the track and check the class engine rules before you do anything, most tracks dont have a class for the 212's, and the ones that do you really cant do a lot to the motor and be legal

Gotta open it up and remove it IMO, some leave it, but too many things could go wrong if you leave it in and spin it in an RPM range that it wasnt desinged to run at

Gottcha...do you think I should put a flywheel on it for the increased rpm?...most are saying the stock rod is o lay good for about 3500 rpms

These guys above race up north and good info also but you are down south . , but you being down south in Alabama. They run Maxxis or vegas and some classes you can only run EL tire , just keep it stock till you get some track time and then go into the Predator 212. Why did you pick the predator , is that what they are running at the track you go to? I take it you have to run a drum clutch or can you use a 2 disc Bully ?
What year is your frame ?

Well I did so.e research on the predator and it was all good as far as building one also because most HP parts are plug and play with little to no machine work and it was very cheap so if I destroy it it wouldn't be expensive to replace and the clutch i m not sure I know my friend runs a racing clutch but I'm not sure about stock class he's running open class methanol with a built motor about 18 horsepower

I would visit your track before you do anything like Jamie said. Or talk to someone that races there.

I agree, take a trip to the track and talk with the Tech guy or the track owner and ask what you can legally do to the engine, you may have got an engine that there isnt even a class for at your track unless you run in the open class.
That is the first thing I would do, it would be bad if you spent money on an engine and cant even run it at your local track
