New Track gearing 4.00 for Junior 2, I need Junior 1 gear?

We're racing Rocky Creek this weekend. I'm told Junior 2 runs a 4.00 ratio. 15-60 or 16-64.

Looks to be about 1/6 mile, maybe smaller. I would think I need to go up in gear, but how much?

I got ahold of my engine guy. He actually told me to go down two teeth which shows you how much I know. I thought since it was a more restricted motor it needed more gear.

We run a 1/6 mile dirt oval. My JR3 driver (blue plate clone) starts on a 15-59 or 15-60 (3.93-4.00) depending on the time of year, ambient air temp, and track conditions. My JR1 driver (green plate clone) starts on a 16-61 or 16-62 (3.81-3.88). If we get a really fast track on a summer night I'm dropping teeth off the axle to keep them from turning it to the moon :p There are different cams in my JR3 and JR1 engines. If they are driving it right my JR1 driver should have about a 300 RPM drop and my JR3 driver should have about a 550 RPM drop through the corner where we race.

Also I've found that anything over 5800 RPM in JR1 and ~6250 RPM in JR3 is just extra noise and doesn't result in more speed. Hope this helps!
