The great DSR team won both the Top Fuel class....Tony Schumacher driving,
AND the Fuel Funny car class...Matt Hagan driver.
Tony won both the semi-final and final round on hole shots. In the final he and the Force girl, both smoked tires badly, Tony.....very experienced....gathered his car back up and won the race.
Final Fuel Funny Car, Hagan won against his own teammate, with fire coming from under the car the last couple hundred feet.
Tony now has a reasonably firm grip on the points championship......well over 100 points ahead.
Hagan, by my figuring jumped over both Courtney and John Force to take about a 30 point lead. Both John and Funny Daughter lost first round. That's bad for points...for sure.
Before the US Nat's race, Don told me that he had kind of given the entire team kind of a "pep talk." He is very smart with people, so it would not be a butt chewing. More an appeal to their pride and ambition and accomplishment in winning championships.
