Original stock engine question

Is that non pull start models ? does the newer pvl ignition have an electronic spark advance ? Because with 28* static ignition timing without a compression release to keep from making combustion before 5* someone using a pull starter will likely have their arm ripped off at the shoulder.

Yes , you had too use the electric starter . The Lo206 is really the only one where pull start was common.

Thanks, I take it the new PVL ignition doesn't have electronic spark advance either.
It does have an intentional spark advance for easier starting. It is irrelevent for on track performance. Embarrassingly, I do not recall how much it advances or at what RPM. I am sure someone will remember the details.

So they finally came up with a spark advance to prevent kick back, that's a good thing, a hundred years late , but still a good thing.
Just another advantage of going to a digital coil.
As a race engine builder, it's nice to not have to put so much ignition advance on the bench and watch it fall off as rpm increased as per the old coils.
