What is the best fluid to use in a parts cleaner.thx

I use mineral spirits

How many gallons, mineral spirits is good. If your hands are in it a lot you can add automatic transmisssion fluid to it to cut down on burning your hands. If it is small quantity you can add Marvel Mystery Oil. 1 quart ATF to 10 gallons of mineral spirits.

Yup, thats what I do too. Plus, that litle bit of lube in the mineral spirits helps to prevent corrosion on bare metal once the mineral spirits evaporate.

I have heard of using Simple Green in hot water.

Be careful with Simple Green. If you leave aluminum parts in it for an extended amount of time the aluminum will discolor.

That Purple cleaner also eats Alum.
