Pencils Down Showdown at Weedsport - Sunday, June 28 - Tire Impound Following Qualifying, Dirty Tire Rule in Effect for ALL Features - Details Here

Junior racers will have the opportunity to say goodbye to the school year and welcome summer with the Pencils Down Showdown on Sunday, June 28. The day’s action will see round three of the race for the championship, while also paying another $500 to PRO Clone Heavy and $100 for the first PRO Jr. Blue Clone event of the year.

All divisions will impound tires following qualifying, with a dirty tire rule in effect for all features. Complete details on this new rule are outlined below. Questions? Contact bob@weedsportspeedway.com.

Rules Updates Effective Beginning June 28, 2026:

Burris 33 tire still mandatory

1. All divisions will be restricted to one set of tires per event. That set of tires must be used in qualifying and the feature event. Once qualifying is completed (heat or time trials), and the kart crosses the scale, a team representative will remove the four tires from the kart and they will be stacked in the tech building. That team member is only able to bring an impact, or ratchet, to remove tires. No rags, towels, wipes or anything that could be used to clean the tire. Tires must be removed as they came off the track. **An air tank and pressure gauge will be permitted to air tires in order to hold stagger when removed.

Tire will be impounded and separated by class. All wheels must be marked clearly with kart number and class. The kartway will provide tire racks with lock holes. If a team desires, they can utilize those racks and bring their own locks. OR - you can bring your own rack or tire post. Tires must be free standing in the tech building, in open air - they are not permitted to be bagged, wrapped, or covered in any way while impounded.

If a kart is running more than one class, you will be permitted to have one set of tires impounded per class. However, they must be marked for that particular class they are specified for. They cannot be interchanged.

JUNIOR PRO will run its own time trials moving forward so that their tires can be impounded separately.

Prior to the feature event teams will be called to the pit building to reinstall their tires. ONLY air pressure gauges, air tanks and an impact gun or ratchet will be permitted in the tech building to reinstall tires. ONLY air pressure adjustments will be permitted prior to the feature. No rags, towels wipes or anything to potentially clean the tire is permitted when reinstalling tires. Tires must re-enter the kart and roll onto the track visibly dirty. No prep, no cleaning of tires at all between qualifying and the feature.

**Anyone that does not make an attempt to qualify in either their heat race, or time trials, must scuff their tires on track during intermission for the same number of laps they would have qualified - then impound those in the pit building for their feature race based on the same rules listed above.

**In the event that a tire is damaged during qualifying, or post qualifying, the competitor will be allowed to immediately bring a dry tire to the tech barn to replace. The tire will need to be inspected at the time of removal at the scales. Wet replacement tires will not be allowed. In the event that a competitor needs to utilize a replacement tire, they will forfeit their time trial position and start tail in the feature.

**Tires can still enter the track "wet" for hot laps and time trials based on our pre-existing rules.
Any team caught tampering with their tires or any of the rules listed above will be a DQ for the entire day in all classes.

2. Moving forward, divisions must have a minimum of (3) pre-entries, or the class will be scratched from the program.

Probably a dumb question. I like what your doing to help save racers money.
But 30 years of low budget kart/car racing we never had a rolling kart stand or a 4 wheeler to push the car.
Sounds like if you can't afford a rolling kart stand or don't have one you can't race in the event???

Still like the idea just asking a probably dumb question.

If the question ain't so dumb you might want to have a couple of rolling kart stands there so those without can get their kart to and from the pits, Like what your doing more and more the more I think about it.
