Pipe Burns!

So is this just part of this kind of racing or what 😂?
I keep building up my guard bigger and bigger. The top burn has taken weeks to heal. Built it even bigger. Yesterday I managed to get another.
Any pics out there of a setup for a bigger driver so he can keep this from happening?

I found a picture on another thread of his
It is his kart
Everything looks good but jacket looks very thin
I run a k1 jacket and it has heat sleeve built in but also use a welder heat sleeve and you will never get burnt again

Quit leaning on the pipe 😁
I wish I could! Our track is really short and your turning the whole time. Lap 15 its all I can do to hold my darn head up let alone keep my arms in. I have no elbow room at all. I am going to try putting the engine out a bit and see how it does.

What kind of race jacket do you wear?
And what kind of pipe are you running?
Is your seat set up right?
No race jacket. Just a dirtbike jersey and a T-shirt usually.

Right . Move the engine as far right as you can .
Leather patch on jacket .or sleeve .
There were some wrap around shoulder supports avalible that attached to the seat.
Double wrap the pipe .

Dover has a fat boy pipe that lays over more .
Might try that .
We went too the silver welding heat pad .
Drivers got several tatoos
Nylon jacket wont help.

The first burn was because the guard was too small. So I added to it. Then I ended up with the whole bottom of my arm one giant bruise because I was on top of it taking a beating. Then I went even bigger

Worked great in practice, hot laps, and 8 lap heat race. No issue. I was happy.

But during the 20 lap main? Well because my right elbow is so cramped and tucked in tight I dont have as much leverage on the right side of steering wheel to help turn. So my wrist started getting pretty cramped up about lap 16. Head was getting hard to gold up too! Now I remember I put my arm up on top of the guard for leverage and that did the deed. I found this Hi-Tech and might give it a shot with some kind of arm protection as well to be safe. I like the welding sleeve one. I have a pair and will try it for sure.
Also I can move my engine out an inch or so. Not sure what that might do to the kart handling. But I guess that is a whole other subject. Thanks! Love all the tips so far!
