Just to make sure rings on the piston are same size. The ones I received a D on one and a DY on the other?

IDK abt that....but you can slip them into the cylinder bore and measure the ring gaps of which should be very close too being the same. The 'D' and 'DY' may be an indication/distinction between the Top ring and the Scarper ring. The Top ring will most likely be a silvery/matt finish w/the Scraper being 'darker'. Any nomenclature or inside bevel always faces 'UP'. Hope this helps....JMO

Top ring will have a shiny edge. Second ring with be dull. Both go in with the letters up as you look down on the piston top.

When checking the ring gap slide the rings inside the cylinder as sceamn 2 said. then take the piston upside down and put it in the cylinder to straighten the rings then use a feeler gauge to measure. hope this helps.
