Piston to head clearance- Briggs 5HP

I did it 2 ways:
First way- I stacked various (cut down to size) feeler gauges on top of the piston and turned the flywheel by hand until it would not rotate past TDC, then backed down in thickness until it would allow a full rotation.
Second way- The classic "Modeling clay method" that various members (including you) recommended.
Both methods were within a few thousands of each other so I feel pretty good about it.
