POCONO RACEWAY NIGHT with $236 to win Walt Morrison Memorial & $300 to win Short Track Slingshot Tour plus Regular Show & Powder Puff on Friday, May 17
An action filled night is in preparation for Friday, May 17 at Snydersville as Pocono Raceway will be joining us with The Famous Pocono Pace Car & Pocono Raceway Goodies. PLUS, THEY WILL BE GIVING AWAY FREE TICKETS TO EVERYONE FOR THE NASCAR GANDER OUTDOORS TRUCK SERIES RACE AND HAVE A RAFFLE FOR MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES TICKETS.
On top of that the 2nd Annual Walt Morrison Memorial Race is set for the Mighty Microstocks in remembrance of one of Snydersville’s longest supporters! For those that didn’t know Walt Morrison, he had racing in his blood from the day he was born to the last breath he took. Walt started racing in Street Stocks at Flemington Speedway and ran many years and from there he transitioned over to the Microstocks, racing at Snydersville Raceway for over a decade. Walt succeeded at Snydersville, winning many races and even notching a Track Championship under his belt. During that time, he would marry the love of his life, Teri Morrison, in the only wedding ever held at Snydersville Raceway. He continued to race up until mid-2016 and then fell ill where he was diagnosed with cancer. Walt fought tooth and nail to get healthy and get back in the seat of his Microstock. Finally, on Saturday, October 7, 2017, with the help of Barry Reese, Walt got back behind the wheel, driving Barry’s Microstock during intermission for a couple laps. However, this would be his last ride as in March of 2018, the whole racing family would be saddened by the passing of Walt.
In memory of Walt the Microstock 206 division will be running a Memorial Race on Friday, May 17 consisting of a 36-Lap Feature (36 was his original car number) with the starting field set by Green/White/Checkered Qualifying. The Winner of the Memorial Race will receive a trophy and a payday of $236. And there is an added twist as this Memorial Race will be Cone Race and have a Lucky Dog for the first car a lap or laps down.
Plus the Engines will be roaring as Round #1 of the Amsoil Short Track Slingshot Tour fueled by Sunoco Race Fuels is going to start the 5 Race Touring Series featuring the AllStar Slingshot! Race #1 will highlight a 30-Lap Feature for the Slingshots with the winner getting a $300 Payday (Guaranteed) and $35 to take the green in the feature. The format of the race will be highlighted below.
And to finally top the tank off for the evening we have ALL WEEKLY CLASSES OF KARTS, CHAMPS, MICROSTOCKS, SLINGSHOTS & QUARTER MIDGETS duking it out on the 1/8-mile bullring plus A MOTHERS DAY POWDER PUFF! Come on out to Snydersville and indulge in the exciting events planned for the Bullring of the Poconos on May 18! Gates open at 4pm, Drivers Meeting at 6pm, Practice at 6:15pm, Racing at 7pm.
