Can I get better performance from my predator by moving the coil as close to the flywheel as possible without burning it up or will that not do anything or will it rob power?

The further away the coil is the less drag on the motor from the magnetic field.
It also retards the timing and not sure if an offset key is legal.

Plaing the coil farther from the flywheel retards the timing?
Yes because the flywheel magnet has to travel farther to break the field from the coil. The farther from the magnet, the weaker the field but the broader it is.
