Proper octane level for lo206?

It is true that on a LO206 you are stuck with 1 jet but that does NOT mean you cannot change the Fuel air ratio. The FAR is based on weight, specific gravity of fuels are different get the idea yet ??

What most people forget is IF you try something like maxima from Sunoco or any OTHER fast burn gas most times you MUST retard the timing to SEE the effects on Slower turning engines such as the LO 206 other wise the mixture burns OUT before the push event is over. ADN retarding the ign gains some torque increases from the PRE Push event" compression" up to ignition where it creates counter torque SO you can get a 2 part gain in HP.

A lot of people thing AV gas makes good race gas. Most times it is the opposite. Av gas is derived to work in SLOW turning engines with dual plug ignition. I that case fast burn fuels are NOT a benifit, just the opposite.

Testing for BEST fuel requires a LOT of research and time. Using "pump "gas sometimes the advantages are mixed right out from under you as the seasons change and the mixtures change.

HIYA AL, It is ALL about the time relationship with combustion. The burn rate is fairly consistant BUT the required time rate changes dramatically as RPM increases. In all phases of motor sport that relationship has created problems. Take an F1 engine at 20Krpm. Think how FAST the push event takes place as compared to a 3600 RPM engine.

Electronic Ignitions with spark curves help a lot but NOT if you cannot work with teh spark curve(;-) That will be coming next in Karting Programable spark maps.

Just a thought, (;-) TP
