My son has been racing box stock and we recently switched to clone. I added a purple plate and when you push the gas the engine bogs way down and even dies. Im new to the restrictor plate game so any info would help! Thanks!

carb, gasket , plate, gasket , Black Insulator.
Im not a plate racer .. so the hole is aligned with the float bowel vent at the back of the carb .

The carb has to be removed and the plate goes between the black insulator and the carburetor. Make sure you have the gaskets positioned correctly on both sides of the plate.

I just took som pictures.

Thanks. We’ve never had a problem, maybe that’s why. Or maybe I’m just ocd about certain things. Back to the OP, don’t forget the thick metal gasket (with the rubber on both sides) between the carburetor and air cleaner adapter.

Make sure that carb is setup for and jetted for a purple plate, they aren't just bolt on and go...
Yes, you will want a bigger jet than you were running without the restrictor, I believe purple calls for a 38 but I'm not positive its been a few years since we ran a purple plate. I think ARC has some info on their website and you can always call them or Dover both are really helpful and have great restrictor plate carbs.
