What thickness reeds work out best for 116 cc open.i have .010 reeds in it now but i have reeds all way to .019 in the toolbox

Use the thicker ones it’s better to finish the race then suck a read through the motor just for a little bit more of a bit of horsepower or you can call Boycen reeds And have them make you some stainless steel reads like they use any of mercury outboards but the one of those goes through the motor gonna be like a grenade going off slicing and dicing it’s way around inside your crankcase. Stick with your thickest ones
 
Bradley, the reed thickness determines how stiff the reed is. A stiffer reed petal can handle more rpm without reed flutter but on the other hand takes more vacuum to open, and probably cuts flow down a tick. I'd bet on the .019 for an open cause your probably turning the crap out of it. but I don't know. Are they carbon fiber? You gotta test to figure that stuff out.
 
In the 80's Yamaha used a thin steel reed petal in their mx bikes. In those early years of reed valve motors we generally used fiberglass reeds from Mossbarger of various thickness with custom reed stops. I tested against Boycen dual stage and always outperformed them. Carbon fiber has been state of the art for reeds now for years. Nothing else comes close. War Dog , how thick are your reeds?
 
Someone once set me, anonymously, a set of reeds to try.
I don't know who, but they were stiffer than the standard carbon reeds I was using...
If I could ever figure out who, I'd get some more -- and thank them officially! :)
