Refinishing machines

Yea, I wouldn't be afraid to make it as big as you reasonably can for stability reasons.
Don't make it so angled that you can't comfortably reach the inside shoulder of the tire though.
Personally, I think the little Chinese grinder stands are too small (and flimsy) - that's why they are unstable.
I don't know how they could possibly work with even a bench grinder mounted to them - at least the way I use a bench grinder!

Ok so i got the top drawn at 20"x13-3/4" and the bottom measurement is 32"x26". Should i angle the legs more? Maybe if someone has spare minute they could measure the top and bottom of theirs to make this a little easier and less errors for me, i would surely appreciate it!

Thats understandable but for 36.00 i can buy 1/8" metal and have some left over. A 20' piece of 1.25x1/8 angle is 15.00 and 20' of 3/4x1/8 is 9.00 and would be 10x's as tough as the harbor freight stand ever could think of being. But i do understand that some people take this route and thats fine, im just choosing to make something a little more robust for the same $.

Well i got around to starting my resurfacer.... Got the base all welded up... Used 1 3/4x1/8 angle for the frame. Cut, notched and press broke a solid top to it out of 12ga steel plate (percs of working in a fab shop lol)

No i didnt my regulator took a dump on me at the end of the day saturday and just got new one in mail today and doesnt fit a standard argon tank so now even longer wait

Switch the stems out on the regulators.
This one seems to not unscrew, i put a pipe wrench on it and doesnt seem to budge and dont wanna screw it up just yet. Gonna hit a welding shop tomorrow maybe they have a nipple fitting to convert it. If not i may risk messing it up trying to get the stem out.

Well got the motor mounted tonight, i dont have the springs in the correct spot. My thoughts was using the springs as an automatic belt tensioner, i have it all planned out just need to put it into place.

This is actually a pretty good design -- especially for stability -- over those made using a Harbor Freight grinder pedestal.
Along with the adjustable tire band this fellow (OP) made, he could be on to a whole new side business. :)
One's got to wonder "what else is in the works next?" :) Hydraulic and manual bead breakers, roll-around & electric kart lifts?
LOVE seeing the DIY attitude in karting!
