Resurface a maxxis

Never ran maxxis always on Burris . To resurface a maxxis what's steps r used. Do u put them in a tire resurfaceing machine and belt sander or what r guys doing thanks

Basically depends on surface you race on...best to slick them up with 120 belt sander....JMO

I've always used a belt sander with 120 grit also. Does anyone have a video of a resurfacer machine in action, like a Larry Jones type?

220 grit drywall sandpaper on a lathe or anything that can spin the tire.

To get heavy fuzzing or peeling off I use a 120 first then clean up with 220 dry paper. Most kinds of Sanders can be used or just a long piece with light pressure by hand. Move left to right and right to left at slower or faster speeds and find a pattern you like. Light pressure and some sort of spray to keep the tire cooler and slightly wet works very well when dealing with maxxis. The smoother the finish the better.

Like Daniel said, 120 or 150 to clean up the rough stuff, then finish with 220.
I use Windex non-ammoniated window cleaner to cool the tire while using a belt sander to finish.
