Ring gap

What would you set your Ring gap on piston. Clone stock Med 5 over on bore. What’s the best technique of setting the rings in the piston. I know ring gap not in line with each other.

Set the gap 120 degrees apart 1st to 2nd, 2nd to first oil scraper/rail and 120* 1st oil scraper to 2nd.
They rotate in use.

I set my top ring to .005 total and 2nd and oils to .010 total....I don’t use the typical thousandths per bore size. Just make sure your end gaps are 180 a part.

I have always clocked my rings 180 degrees out in line from the wristpin due to the fact that piston rock is the least at this point and farthest from the thrust point and ring migration the least plus being 180 out the rings have the most distance possable to line up so if anybody can tell me the benifits of 120 degree clocking please chime in.

A properly honed cylinder will cause the rings to rotate around the piston. Where you clock the gap makes no difference.
