Watched him audition each spring along with other USO entertainment for Army enlisted men's clubs at the main Headquarters Heidelberg Germany Club in 1966/68. Got to sit in on the auditions during the day because I worked midnight shift.
I was not a country music fan or really a fan of any other music except jazz back then but he was well liked by the GI's there.
He put on an ok show back then and i'm sure he improved over the years.
