RMR SERIES TO TAKE YEAR OFF…PREPARATIONS CONTINUE FOR NY UNILLI SERIES

FULTON, NY…Richard Murtaugh Racing, who will be handling the upcoming New York Unilli Series presented by UniRon, has made the announcement that the RMR Outlaw Series will be dormant for the 2015 season.

“When we set up the New York Unilli Series, we did our best to work around the dates of the other major series in the region,” said RMR Outlaw Series founder Rich Murtaugh. “That in and of itself was pretty hard, and we even scaled back the dates and incorporated drops into the series structure for that reason. In the process of scheduling that, we found it was going to be impossible to schedule RMR Outlaw Series events for 2015 without stepping on someone else’s toes…it's a short summer with a lot of racing packed into it...so we have decided to give the RMR Outlaw Series a rest for the 2015 season as we focus on the New York Unilli Series and it’s opening date at Frozen Ocean Speedway on June 6th.”

Murtaugh added, “With the support of UniRon, we’ve been able to put together a fantastic series set in one location with spread out dates that not only make it easier on the racers, but also has some of the highest payouts in the whole Northeastern region. It made no sense to jeopardize that by trying to run another series of RMR in the same season. We apologize for the inconvenience and of course, we want to thank all the racers that have supported the RMR Outlaw Series over the years.”

Murtaugh also stressed that the RMR Outlaw Series is not folding up shop. “If it makes sense, and there’s room for it on the racing calendar, there’s no reason for us not to have an RMR Outlaw Series in 2016 and beyond, but for this season, we are 100 percent committed to making the New York Unilli Series the best and strongest it can possibly be. We’ve acquired some of the best in the business to work with us in that regard, and I think that teams that compete on the series will not only be rewarded financially, it will be an enjoyable experience for them.”

One event that will remain on the 2015 calendar will be the Kevin Ward Jr. Memorial race, which will be held at Frozen Ocean in September. “We had a fantastic event last year, and to honor Kevin’s memory, we are going to make this an annual event on our racing calendar, and we invite teams from all over the region to come and compete…and to remember Kevin.”

The New York Unilli Series begins Saturday, June 6th at Frozen Ocean Speedway in Auburn, NY. For more information on the New York Unilli Series, including schedules, classes, rules, payouts, and membership, please visit www.richardmurtaughracing.com.
