For the last 20 years I have heard a lot of people talk about how they were going to race an electric kart and just beat the snot out of those old outdated internal combustion pieces of junk. Well, I've only seen one person try it. He made it to the first corner (and it did not accelerate like he thought it would) and was never to be seen since (he went back to the IC powerplants). Oh yeah, He didn't slow down enough to make the turn. Good luck guys.
