Scuffing tires

Put a new left rear Hossier tread tire on my kart. We had a play day at the track last night. I forgot to scuff the tire. It felt like I was on ball bearings. Don't know it that's what it was. We have a concrete parking lot up at the school. I think I am going up there today and give them all a good scuffing. Haven't scuffed any of them in a while. I have 3 Burris and the one Hossier tread tires.
I tried higher air pressure 7 inside and 7 1/2 outside down to 4 inside and 5 outside. Still felt loose mainly in one turn.

You can leave them on the kart, if you don't have a tire sanding machine, and use a belt sander and scuff them that way, you will be able to get them more like you want them that way. If you don't have a belt sander, they are very cheap at Harbor Freight.

That is sanding or grinding, NOT scuffing.
Scuffing can ONLY be done on a road type surface.
And yes theres a difference. Scuffing can help with the "curing" of tires, sidewall flex, etc., while sanding or grinding is only removing rubber.

You are correct, but I don't think that's what he was talking about.

The OP also said that he hadn't "scuffed" his tires in a while......I strongly suspect he means sanding to break the glaze on them akin to refinishing.
So many new people in our sport (and some old timers) who still confuse this terminology (scuff vs sand.)

Now, I feel bad for the guys who do automotive paint and body work -- where they "scuff sand" parts prior to painting.
