Setting the valve lash

WHile over-torquing the bolts is an issue, I don't think a lot of people realize the bottom valve cover bolt (the longer one) does require more torque than the other three as it is also helping keep the gasket sealed between the plate and the block. I see the gasket broke / oil leaks from that area which are often caused by under-torquing that bolt.

What's worse is when someone over tightens the bottom valve cover bolt and they split the gasket under the galvanized plate.
Changing the valve cover gasket is easy compared to changing the plate gasket.

Fine line between the gasket failing because of too little / too much torque in the lower bolt. Bottom bolt should be about 110-125 inch pounds in my opinion (the same as the two that hold down the rocker plate). The other three are fine to be just snug.
