Smc vortec thread clutch help

I know it's a left hand thread what's the best was to hold drum while unscrewing gear.

I wrap the drive gear in an old chain and tighten it up in the vice. Use a piece of square stock or strap lengthwise across the groves of the basket to tap it off. Use a very small amount of aluminum anti seize on the threads. VERY LITTLE

Best thing is to buy the actual tool to properly remove the sprocket
