spindle lenth, im confused

So Im putting together an old Bug Black Widow kart. Mounted up my spindles and noticed that my right spindle is shorter than my left. Shouldn't it be the other way around ? Don't you want the right side wheels out and the left side closer for more weight on the left side ? Help me understand. Also the right spindle is so short I cannot get a big wheel on there. thanks, geo

The Blak widow was not an oval kart if I remember correctly, it was a sprint chassis.
That generation of chassis usually ran 4.50 - 5.50 tires on the front.

I ran a Emmik Express on dirt in the early 90's , I ran a longer left spindle , it helped me turn ( I don't remember just why but it worked ), I was still running 5" wheels
