Starting Fluid Preference

Do you have a preference in starting fluid? WD-40, carb cleaner, etc? And does the choice matter if you're running methanol or gasoline?

We used to keep an old oil bottle filled with gasoline to squirt into the carb/intake of our alcohol engines when we raced indoors or when it was very cold out.
Alcohol has a flashpoint of 51*, so it's difficult to get it to ignite when it's real cold out. A squirt of gas always did the trick for us.

Now if it's a gas engine, I don't think you should need any starter fluid...snowblowers in Duluth start just fine in the winter.

what do you use starting fluid for? we been racing for over 20 years and never used starting fluid, if the motor is right it starts, you must have carb problem or something.
What Wally Dog says - up here in south central PA we encounter that. Come up here, 800 or 1000 miles north of your location, and try to start your kart in mid to late October. :)
