Sucking extra air

Looking for opinions on performance of motor with sucking extra air by isolator plate in a non restrictor plate class. Yes I know it's illegal.

Very difficult to get extra performance, unless also getting extra fuel.

Air bleeds too small, jet much larger, emulsion tube, can indicate getting air somewhere else. Not always the case, but can be an indicator.

Ken Schrader and team found an advantage at Daytona by a creative reading of the rules.
Rules stated all air must pass thru the holes in the restrictor plate. The made that happen for a 3 to 5 percent increase in power, by utilizing all the holes in the plate.
Got caught. But technically it was correct.

Circle track magazine had an article about it being a superior reading of the rules.

About 1989 or so.

Tuning for the situation would be the trick .
I don't doubt a small hole wouldn't help, any big gain would need too be large .
Schrader and them used 4 oversize carb stud holes with a passage in the manifold and carb . If i remember correctly . It went though the carb , down the stud and into the plenum.

I believe this led to Nascar issuing the plates on race weekend.

Michael Waltrip's Daytona qualifying trick led to inspectors watching the install of spacer, plate, and carburetor.
