Thinking about switching to a 450 what’s your opinion!

I’m currently running a Sudam kart weighs 410 with me and the Sudam. Just curious on you everyone’s opinions good bad and ugly.

I used to run a dual carb stroker 131 sudam for a couple of seasons, with me in it, was at about 425, i openly admit im not the greatest driver, but the bigger motors could pull me bad off the corners, but i could drive it a little deeper than they could, for me, it came down to whomever had the better tires and could drive through the corners the best…

450 is the easiest and most cost effective route for sure. The 250-300 smokers can be good if done right also.

I have a couple karts this would be in addition to a 116 open for small tracks just not sure a 131 is big enough sometimes
There was a person a while back that ran a gas leaf blower into his 131. Was the biggest head ach I ever saw but when it worked……god did it work. I tossed around going with a battery electric about 14 years ago. With 20v batteries now and variable speed motors it just might be able to be perfected now

A water cooled small two stroke can be extremely fast on a momentum track of any size. If the track has tighter corners and the straights turn into a drag race, the big fours will usually prevail. Know your tracks your plan to race and it can be an advantage. But, as pointed out a 450 is the best all around bang for the buck. Can be tamed down on smaller tracks and still stretch it's legs on bigger tracks.

I've personally always wondered about a ktm350, which has similar hp to the 450 but less torque. Or even if you could destroke a crf450. Be interesting for sure.
