Throttle hanging up, what's causing it!!!??

Only been running the animal a couple of nights but both times the throttle, or more precisely the valve throttle and spring are getting clogged with dirt/sand and the getting stuck at around 1/2 throttle. Both races have been on sandy tracks, I do have a outerwear on the air filter and there is a boot on the throttle cable, so I'm not sure where it's coming from, but 3 times in 4 races is ****ing me off!

Many times the I.D. of the plastic tube gets a groove cut in it from the braded throttle cable. The cable then sticks in the groove at times. Replace the plastic tube and don’t make it short so it has a sharp bend. (May need a new cable as well depending how long it is)

If you are getting that much dirt in the carb you have a more serious problem than just the throttle sticking!
YOU ARE GOING TO RUIN THE ENGINE IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!
Where is the dirt getting in?
If it is it getting in through the throttle cable the Dirt Devil may be a solution but so is a dab of grease under the throttle cap boot.
Also put a boot on the other end of the cable at the throttle linkage with grease in it.
If it is getting in through the air cleaner there will be dirt in the carb when you take the Air filter off. Any dirt in the carb is an indication that you need to do something immediately to stop it. I have seen engines ruined in one night from dirt getting in.
The very first thing is to put a deflector between the rear tire and the air filter. sometimes you also need one in front of the carb.
The next thing is to have a supply of clean and oiled filters and pre-filters ready to change every time you come off the track.
