Rebuilding older 314e, has one welch plug easily removed, but second one that is above ball check nozzle is not traditional welch plug. Its brass much smaller, only 1/8 inch and has a very narrow slot for a screw driver but doesnt appear it can be unscrewed and is flush. I thought the brass ones were all pressed in. It appears the check nozzle is good, the ball can be heard when i shake it and air only passes through one way. Should i even bother then to remove it then.

I think what you are describing is the actual top of your nozzle and the slot is for line up purposes, its a press fit .

thanks, just read that somewhere else, it didnt look like that slot was there for a screwdriver to grab, was told if you could blow through it using small tube air should only pass in one direction and no reason to remove it.
