Timing issue

Having some issues with timing i think. I pulled the cam and crank out to remove the governor and oil sensor, now I believe I have the timing off. Just wondering if anybody could lead me in the right direction on setting the timing on a predator 212 hemi. Do I find top dead center on the exhaust stroke and then set the dot for dot on the crank and on the cam and that’s it? Am I over thinking it? Any help would be great.
 
Set the cam dot to dot . Then everthing should fall in place .
No need to worry about the exhaust stroke .
 
I had a loud knocking noise so stop pulled it all apart thinking it was a timing issue . Didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Put it all back together like it should be. I guess we will see if I fixed the problem in the morning.
