Tire Spring rates, Duro , Etc for Prepping

Running a track that has an open tire rule and I am new to prepping and would like some assistance.

What is the differences in Maxxis, Burris, Vegas? Spring rates, duro etc. is there a durometer target for a given prepped tire?

I’m currently externally prepping Vega’s 2-3 times a week. Is this enough?

Maxxis is the fastest tire on a good track.
Vega is the fastest tire for a duro 30 and under and tire of choice for most with a duro under 40.
Burris will be the fastest tire when Burris is the most dominant tire at track, mostly Mid West.
Maxxis has the stiffest spring rate with Burris softest, Vega in between. However that can be altered with internal prepping.
No specific duro to "shoot" for. Each track will need a tire of its own. Tracks have characteristics though, and you learn what each track likes.

Where do Hoosiers fit in as spring rate?

That depends on the compound.
For instance, the A40 is most similar to a Vega Yellow
The FK/FKSE is most similar to a Maxxis Pink
The D30A is most similar to a Burris 33a.

Each of these three tires have distinct sidewall and profile construction differences.
