We budget 5000.00 a race for Top Fuel Harley, That's just for the bike.
I've always told people that if a yacht is a hole in the water into which you pour money, a race car is a hole in the ground into which you pour money. It has been decades since I raced a motorcycle, but the same thing applies as with cars. There is NO cheap way to go racing, 2 wheels or 4, and that goes double in classes that are at the top of the performance ladder, like this example.
I was in the marine business and I had to laugh when a customer would say "I'm filling that hole in the water as fast as I can". My reply was you can't fill it! Another time a customer was replacing a bunch of stuff that was stolen or damaged in a storm, he asked his wife "How do you spell Thousand" her reply was "S t u p i d". And he started to write that on his check!!!
