Track Tac® - Help Provided - A New Begining

I was just reading the Track Tac FAQ page. I saw that it’s not recommended to use air in treated tires. Instead it’s best to use CO2 or nitrogen. Why is that? I don’t recall that ever being talked about when I raced around 2010.
One thing is just about safety, the second thing is nitrogen will always be a better option than air because its dry and you have more stable and consistent air pressure gains.

Nitrogen doesn’t build pressure inside the tire like air does. It’s considered more stable. Minimum gain with the proper tire the race track wants. Work on stagger and choosing the proper tire for the racetrack and you will be fine. If you’re having to raise the tire pressure above 6 or below 4 you should be on a different tire. As a rule of thumb. In saying that… I have mainly experience with Maxxis only.

So with GK1 or SAA, depending on temp I'm wiping till the desired duro, checking it through the week, topping with PRW at the track and washing with blue tire wash, resurfacing if needed and repeating the process all over again the next week? Anything I'm missing? Vega Yellows BTW.

How has that been working for you? It sounds like a good process especially if it is working.

Weve only had a few laps so far with the grape on a set. So far so good. Just got the GK1 blue yesterday from you guys so I threw a couple light coats on one set and let them dry in the sun. Had one coat of Black sand on them prior. They were rolled internal but have never seen the track yet. This weekend will tell the tale.

Lebanon Valley, NY what do ya’ll think for prep?
Newish to the dirt scene of things. Ran asphalt for years in karts and more. Just trying to see what everyone thinks. It’s typically very dry, dusty, slick…. And very bumpy. If that helps..

Thanks

I am not familiar with the track. What have you been using and what kind of results have you had? I can reach out to some of our guys in New York and figure out whats working the best in that area.

Can anyone tell me which Track Tac prep is closed to a Medium Prep like LS 2 , Flip Flop Medium ,
Thanks in advance
Black Sand seems medium to me as long as you let it cure 10 days in advance. I have my own recipe that I have created from talking with Randy Ransom. So far it has been really good but you have to let it dry similar to Black Sand. I've only run it twice. 1.) Lawrenceburg IND during Hot Laps on Burris. Our laps times were better than what we raced with on Vegas later that night. Also, I pulled set for a Jr3 Driver at Bluegrass Nationals @Clay City and he Qualified on Pole (First time ever) then finished 2nd which was also one of his best finishes. The track was drying out in that feature or he would've won it on the same tires. I can send you some on my dime if you want to try it.

I'd like to find someone going to Liberty in the next couple weeks to test it on that surface. I think they will be really good there.

BTW you mentioned LS2 above. Is it me or does LS2 smell exactly like Kerosene?

Thanks Actually I was trying to help a guy out with his son racing in Oregon and his only local source only carried track tac poducts , I was aware of black sand of course , and a few of there other preps I've used but not many .
As far as the smell of LS 2 I've never had a very good sniffer so could't confirm by my nose , and I've never heard that before so again couldn't confirm .
Thanks again for the offer , I will be texting or PM ing you soon though to pick your brain on a few of those other mid west tracks .
