Trailer set ups

I'm trying to get everything situated so I'm able to get the kids going next season. While I've pulled many trailers I've never really set one up for racing. What are some of your set ups looking like?

I am ocd about being organized, I like things to have a spot and the area to look decent and not just thrown in.

Also what those with multiple karts doing as far as strapping them down? Is it best to leave on stand and tie kart to stand then stand to floor? I was lookin at doing two fold out kart tables to store while moving but open to ideas.

I have a 8.5x20 that will occasionally haul my 92 chevy around when I get it up and going. Thanks

We have a trailer the same size as you and we haul a 8 ft long tire rack 3 karts on stands tool box, generator, compressor, pop up canopies, and everything else we need you have plenty of room for 2 karts on stands and anything else you would want to take. Strap them down sideways instead of nose towards the front and you will have even more room.

Our trailer is 16 foot long. We are not too organized by the end of the race season, but we start off with good intentions! I added shelves along one wall up high. These hold spare tires and tool boxes. In the front I have shelves up high for the jugs of water, fuel, oil. I had to add a lip in front of the shelves and a strap to hold stuff in place. On the tongue on the outside I mounted a tool box that came out of the back of a pickup. This holds our organizers with extra parts and our gas can. The heavy stuff like the generator, air compressor, fire extinguisher etc goes in the nose of the trailer. We leave the karts on the stands. We strap the karts to the stands with motorcycle straps and tie it to the trailer with 4 ratchet straps each. On the other side I have pegs where I hang all of our gears so they can be easily found. That is when we just take the 2 karts. I can fit 3 karts in the trailer on their stands. On the nights my son is also racing his sprint car I made a rack in the nose of the trailer for the karts. One goes on the floor sitting sideways in the nose of the trailer. I set it on 4x4 wood blocks to get the wheels off the floor. I made a rack of 2x4s that sits over the kart in tight so the kart on the floor is held in pace by the wood rack. The second kart goes on top of the rack. It is narrow enough that the tires hang off the sides keeping it from rolling or sliding. I strap the top kart down. Sprint car goes in the middle and the top wing of the spring goes in beside the sprint. compressor and generator will fit beside the front tire of the sprint car, and the kart stands go in the back of the pickup. All of the tools and tool boxes will fit on the shelves and in the tool box on the tongue of the trailer.

Don’t have pictures of our setup

Close as I can get. Roll away tool box up front, sheving unit in there for odds and ends and engines, a tire rack and anything else you should need .

I have seen a guy with 8 karts in a 16' trailer, strapped to the wall . I have tire rack with 3 sets high on one wall made with plywood ends and 1/2" conduit. I carry an aluminum air tank, I use a battery with a 12v inverter and LED bulbs. No generator or air compressor ( too heavy and too much room

A kart stacker is a big help with multiple karts.

Mines only 16ft. But I'm finding out the more organized you are the more you seem to come up with. I leave the generator in the back of the truck along with the air compressor and it saves a ton of room!

An organized trailer surely helps make race days/night more pleasant and easier to haul the proper items needed. Kart wise, depending on how many karts are coming along with us, we'll usually use a one of our Stacker Stands as those are most effective to safely transport on.

Built an enclosure utilizing some of our stock cabinets for our generator. There is a high speed fan inside the enclosure that helps get the hot air inside the enclosure vented to outside. Most of all our cabinets are labeled with contents and many then have plastic totes inside also properly marked. Always nice to be able to tell someone "go to the hardware cabinet and bring me such and such tote". :)

All of you guys sure do have nice setups. Would like to eventually have setups like these! Right now I am starting out with a 10ft open trailer. I mean it will work but I would like to have a enclosed trailer but it will work. I cant complain because I know of people who use there truck beds which isnt a bad idea but you are more limited on space.

Agree with you. Everyone starts with something. My first? How about a very tiny fold-up open trailer (Harbor Freight like) towed behind my '81 Mercury Lynx (Ford Escort). On big hills, I'd have to pull over after making it up them to let the engine cool down. Next came hauling in the back of a little Ford Ranger which then led to a little enclosed trailer towed via same truck, each for sure brought me to many races and made plenty of memories with each. I know many always say "Trailer's don't win races", which is a saying I don't necessarily like, but has truth to it. However there is no better setup then having a trailer all decked out with all the cool stuff you worked hard to get. I like the conveniences we have now, though still have my roots planted back in the days of cramming all my gear in that little old hatchback with a bumper mounted hitch. :D These trailer threads are always fun. I like seeing everyone's setups and all the cool stuff people do.

I got lucky on a high top trailer. I put my hot box in it. Probably not necessary but nice to have when prep is on stick them in the box and roll while doing other stuff. I put mop sink in the back inside the trailer that drains thru the floor lol. Worked good like that this year. 1st yr with this trailer.

I started with my truck bed, moved to a 6x4 open trailer I bought for $250, with welded square tube for a make-shift stacker, then finally a 16' enclosed. Figured you guys might appreciate this ingenuity.
