just got my 6 year old's kart all together thanks to a lot of help from yall. was reading over the rules for liberty speedway and they were talking about a transponder, I have an idea what one is but is but could someone elaborate? and are they required?

Electronic timing device.
Actually its sends the signal to the timing device . Each kart has a separate code .
Required , probably , sometimes there available to rent.

Confirm with the track but 95% of tracks that require them for scoring provide them some charge a separate fee, the racer usually just needs the holder they go in.

Most tracks will use the AMB system, it has to be compatible.
Need to check with the tracks you run and see what system they use, here the track hands them out but you don't own it.

Yeah don't buy one until talking with the track. Like other side most likely they will have one for rent its usually 5/10 bucks a night

Liberty has there own transponders. No need to buy. Think the cost is 5 dollar transponder fee. You will need to buy a pouch. Fast eddy or CKI should have them at the track.
