Triton life span?

Honestly about how many races can you put on a triton until its deemed "slower" I've heard rumors about a arch In the chassis and when it's gone the tritons not as fast. Been wondering and wanted other opinions.

I'm guessing you heard this from a non phantom owner.
My reply is its a fallacy, rumor and just plain wrong.
king pins , spindles and axle are the bigger concern.

I've been on Phantom stuff for over 14 years and this is all the hater can come up with.... Buy one and ride the he$$ out of it...

no way this is right.

It certainly is if you want to run upfront at top events....

The chassis itself will far outlast the components.....metal gets fatigued and is prone to more flex the longer it runs. Every year we replace spindles, heims, bearings, axles, and seat struts.

You can go as long as you want without replacing the spindles or camber bolts. I just know that when I run multiple classes each event that we change ours roughly every 4 or 5 weekends depending on what happens. Sometimes sooner and sometimes later. If you haven't replaced yours in over 5 nights on the chassis and you have a PRC kart I will say that you may be really suprised by what you find if you take off the spindle or the camber bolt. They bend a lot easier than you think

The PRC spindles are by far the flimsiest spindles that I have seen on any kart. From what I have been told though is that it is so the spindle bends instead of the chassis in an accident.

so are heat races and features included in the calculation ? if a guy races 2 heats and 1 feature once a week . should he order a new spindle the following monday and replace it after his next heat race ?becouse that would be race # 4 ....... or just run 2 weeks on the spindles and then replace ........CRAZY..............

Really?

exactly ,,,,,,,,,,,,, thats what i am trying to say !!!!!!! crazy aint it ?

You know perfectly well that wasnt what the poster meant....and if you truly do think people are replacing spindles every 4-5 times on the track, then i have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale....

Here is my rule of thumb... If you have said to your self recently, "Wow we haven't had to replace the spindles on this thing in a long time"... then it is time. As stated above you would be suprised at what you find once you go to change them, not to mention the flex and load being presented on the heims, KP bolt, and spindle itself. The majority of speed is determined by 1000ths of a second between you and the competition, I like to take this out of the equation.

What part of 4-5 weekends was hard to understand? Like I said, if you don't want to do this, I could care less. It is just what needs to be done in order to stay consistent and stay up front

IMO - I'd say if you scale the kart out weekly and there are no changes in your original settings then run it. If you see marked changes then it may warrant some checks for something bent or worn out. Bearings are another story. How often you replace those is dependant on how well you maintain them between race weekends and the quality of the bearings. Tritons do not flex out as much as the older karts use to. They depend more on tire type and preparation, weight transfer, and chassis set-up to be competative.....not so much on frame flex.
