Valve Spring Retainers

Hello everyone, as I read through the 2014 BSP rules I saw that the thickness of the retainers has changed to -.005" from last year, my question for everyone is, which do you prefer, thicker retainers or thinner retainers? Now that we have the ability to shim the valve springs I foresee this as being more important than it was last year. I build all my own motors and one thing I have never quite wrapped my head around was how the thickness of the retainers really affected things.

This is only theory, the thicker the retainer the heavier and stronger; The thinner, lighter and weaker, but but again this is only in theory; Also it may affect assembled height depending on EXACTLY where it is thicker or thinner. There are a lot of variables here, and retainers don't crush
