Valve Stems

I'm going to be powder coating a new set of rims. How can I remove the valve stems without damaging them...is it possible?

Just rip them out and replace them. They are cheap as mentioned. Jc specialty has them for like 70 cents a piece. Can also get them at a mower repair shop since the short ones are used in lawn tractor wheels

I look at valve stems like cotter pins. They're good the first time you use them. When you re-use them, you cannot trust them. Replace 'em.

the weight isn't really an issue, but the longer stems make it annoying to get air in the tire when your in a hurry sometimes

Well, the weight is negligible but if you run heavy valve stems you might end up with more weight opposite the valve stem to balance the wheel. While it is a small amount, I've always figured the less balancing weight it takes, the better. And yes, it helps with clearance so you can access the valve stem for adding and adjusting air. Good point!
