if you was only going to have one in your arsenal, I would go with a thick. if the track gets to much grip for a thick I would look at another tire option. jmo.
We almost always start with thick right sides and cut them to make the contact patch and shoulder what we want.
Normally we use an intermediate and high crown template for our Vegas depending on what we're trying to accomplish. About the only time I see people using thins successfully is on high bite tracks or pavement. Even then, I'd take a set of our cuts over thins any day.
