What is the solution to keeping your visor from fogging up when it gets cool in the night

Try a breath deflector that will help.

before going to the races wipe soap on the shield dawn/shampoo/ hand soap whatever, get a good film across it and then wipe it off until you can see again.

Every Ski shop sells an anti-fog wipe. Cheap too! I never went skiing without it. Spiting on them and wiping them works.

im sure about spit, all divers do it, and we've done it for 20 years

And yet another approach; The Rainex people offer an anti-fog compound, not just their treatment for the outside of the windshield that repels the rain. It works well.

Wipe the shield with Dawn let it dry polish it off and dont wet the shield again with water works great on bathroom mirrors also
