This is very true I more than anything get that.I know there’s a lot of different factors in winning or even just running up front, I just want to make sure I’m giving him the best Chance when he’s out there. Both good but i see xcaliber win a lot! In the jr classes especially the younger ones the motor is not the deciding factor its the kid who stays in the gas the longest.
That’s what I wanted to hear. A busy builder is a good builder. I spoke with them last week about sending mine for a refresh, they said it’d be the end of June before he got it back to me, which I’m fine with I have another I can run, I’m wondering if I send him a motor that isn’t there’s if they’d rebuild it to their standards as plate motor? I forgot to ask when I was speaking with them.Welch and Xcaliber are national level engines. I talked to Xcaliber not to long ago he told me he’s got 129 clones to build to get caught up. Sometimes he can’t take any new clients.
While I can't answer that question directly what I can say is it's usually more expensive to have them rebuild somebody else's engine. You'll want to call and have that conversation with them. It really depends on when and who built the other engine. My guess is they'll steer you towards selling what you currently have and have you buy new. I'd also see if they know of any of their purple plate engines that might be coming for sale. You might get lucky with somebody that has aged out of the class or is down sizing their program that you can get something a bit quicker through the builders network.I’m wondering if I send him a motor that isn’t there’s if they’d rebuild it to their standards as plate motor? My nephew runs a Welch in purple and he’s been unstoppable since he got it. I wouldn’t mind going with Welch, I just already have an Xcaliber and was wanting to get him on the same thing. I appreciate all your info!Welch is backed up too. I’d put Jerry’s motors against anyone’s the animal limited he built me is a beast. His motors have been up front at just about any race you could imagine. Barrett Terry and Cole Storie are up front everywhere they go. Carl is a good guy but I’ve heard he’s had to turn people away because he’s swamped. There is just a lot more builders down south than up in the mid west Xcaliber also does a lot of sprint kart stuff and briggs stuff so he’s working a lot broader spectrum in an area with fewer choices.
I’ll give them a call and see if they know of anything, I never thought to ask them that before. And that makes since, I guess I wouldn’t want to rebuild another engine and not be able to guarantee the block or anything. PM me if you'd be interested in a fresh rebuilt purple plate Welch
Anyone wants there old parts back can typically get them . If your shipping might not be any value . Plus they likely lay around getting in your way.^^^^ especially when they take off filter adapter, Chain guard, top plate and anything else that has somebody else name on it. and replace it with theirs I had one guy grind off the the OG builders serial number lol. you don't get a discount for the parts they keep.
Jerry built some open animals for Clint Bower and Harvick for a race at LaJoies and Harvicks kart tracks.Welch is backed up too. 129 engines in just a little over a month! Holy Cow! Way to go, Carl! I can't do that! LOLThat’s what I wanted to hear. A busy builder is a good builder. I appreciate the input and the offer. From the sound of it everyone is busy.129 engines in just a little over a month! Holy Cow! Way to go, Carl! I can't do that! LOL
I don't think he's doing much with Briggs anymore. I know he hasn't done flatheads for a while now, and we've picked up a lot of their flathead rebuilds.
Every good builder is busy right now. It's just that time of year and business has been real good. I don't build many clones or I'd offer to help out. We're even further back though, unfortunately (about 2 months.) 5 more engines came in the door yesterday and only 1 went out. I can't keep up with the work we've got now!
