Are there any Briggs builders out in the west that are 1) reputable, 2) reasonable and know what they are doing? Heard of clone builders wanting $2500 plus for an engine that isn't much better than a stock WF.
I would say Lawrence Race Engines is the closest to you "idaho" with a good reputation. I am three states away in BC just above Washington. If they can't help you PM me I can help out.
