Years ago I used to hate Chrysler products, reason - the sound of their starter.
In 2001 I bought a '96 Dodge 1500 Ram, 318 (5.2) it had just turned over 100k.
When I sold it in 2008 it had 345k on it, I had replaced 2 water pumps, 1 alternator,1 starter, and 1 trans rebuild.
Sold it to a neighbor for his Son, last I heard it had over 400k on it and he had sold it.
When I sold the '96 I had just bought an '01 Dodge 1500 Ram, 318 (5.2), only difference was this one had the quad/king cab, and it had 120k on it.
Last year when my Son became a Dad (and I became a Grand Dad) he needed a truck he could carry his baby girl in.
His '77 Ford just wasn't going to cut it, even though it was the only vehicle he had ever owned, he's 23 now (right before he turned 16 we found it and we both fell in love with it, pearl white, short bed, all power/AC/tilt wheel, beautiful truck)
Any way, I told him, swap keys with me. He said "Dad, you're not going to get rid of the Ford are you?", I said "no, it will be right here in the yard anytime you want to borrow it".
The Dodge now has 370k on it, need a differential (or really only pinion bearing), trans needs built ,but as long as he babies it it will be ok.
Now I sorta like them Dodge trucks, just glad the starters don't sound like they used to.
Still hate truck payments, bought my last new one (Chevy) in '88, sold it in '90 when my Son was born (couldn't afford both, wife made me keep the boy,,,NOT!)
