Whats most HP you can pull on Race Fuel?

Wondering about next build. Have some ideas but am wondering what people have pulled out of an open clone with just race fuel or E85? No alky. No rules. 196cc or 212.

In reality Im trying to get together some info on what to do this year. Havent decided if Im gonna try the 212cc or go bog bore 196cc. Also havent decided on head even though it most likely will be a milled and big valve 14cc or 22cc. Either way Im all ears for your thoughts. Dont need a top end motor. Max rpm range will be around 7500 or so. Dirt. Small.

Not really sure what you are asking?
Fuel being used is dependant on your detonation threshold...not on HP!
For fuel you run the octane needed to resist detonation/preignition...

I understand all that. What Im asking is how much compression and such can you make these without having to change to alky? I want to build a powerhouse but want to keep it on race fuel or e85. What compression have you guys seen that is the threshold for this?

Depends on a lot of variables but...depending on type of race gas used 15-1 comp ratio...then it comes down to sealing the heads on these engines...I would say 14-1 to be safe...

You have us stocking up on the beer and pretzels here! How are/can YOU compare 'race fuel' to e-85(??) 'Compression' is ONLY a static # that needs 2b identified w/ Camshaft Duration too seek true relevance.

Im not. Im ASKING if there is a benefit from one to the other. Im just trying to get together a sweet open motor but and trying to find out how to go about doing so from people that have experience with building these on race fuels. I know you can do it on alky. I dont understand what the big fuss is about???

The cam most likely will be a NR 280/220 with springs to suit that cam. Head will be either a 14cc worked by DLR or MCR or maybe a 22cc worked by the same. Trying to get input on those two as well but will most likely just call them to get an answer. As said before its a super small track and I have a 14cc head now polished and smoothed.

I can list my full build sheet if you want if you think that will help.

I have went to around 15-1 on racing gas, ran good till it blew the block in half.
nothing like an honest answer! Why racing fuel or e-85? Like yak said you have to seal the head and young stated about blowing block apart. Big bore long rod torque motor on 91 or 93 octane. 15-1 you'll beat the crank out of the block.

Reason for race fuel is track related. No its not a sanctioned track. Just family track. Rule they made up. Am running Cam 2 now. Judging by NR chart now Im somewhere around the 13:1 mark now. Seems to do fine. Just want more motor this year.

imho Don't waste your time with E-85. Go to your local vp dealer or fuel supplier and get some good oyx inriched race fuel or just stick with your cam2. Either should be enough fuel if its around 110.

we run sunoco race fuel (110 octane) in stock appearing motors. we like it. our motors don't suffer from it in any way and we've done some seat of the pants testing and found that the race fuel gives a little bit better starts and restarts (slamming on the throttle and coming up to racing speed)...race fuel just seems to spin up faster. no, this is not scientific or even remotely accurate....it's jsut seat of the pants testing and so we've stayed with it. might be $10 a gallon, but when we use less than a gallon between two karts, the cost isn't a big factor. one other thing that we've noticed in the two years weve been running......we cut apart the fuel filters after the first season on pump gas and last season on racing fuel....the pump gas filter showed signs of having contamination...just little particles that i could see under a magnifying scope (like the one used for spark plugs...left over from ministock racing). the race fuel filter looked cleaner. might not be anything, but with the tight tolerances that we run....why risk getting crap in your motor? or worse, crap in the carb that stops it up jsut as you take the lead? :)

I run VP 113 in my clone with 12-1 and a black mamba cam, and lots of other goodies,,,,, does it run well.. heck yes,, do i like spending $80bucks on 5 gall of fuel.. Hell no... this is what i use at a family run what ya brung class.....JMO..... thanks,,,,

I’m a little confused by some of your comments. Like the one about a 14 CC head and a 22 CC head. That’s the difference between a 10-1 compression ratio and a 15-1 compression ratio. I’m sure you’ll understand, that’s a big difference.
You also said, “110 octane race gas or e85, but no alcohol.” As someone has already pointed out, E85 is 85% alcohol. You will need substantial changes to switch from one to the other.
I hope you will accept this help in the spirits it is given.

Comments, compliments, criticisms and questions always welcome.
If the data does not support the theory, get a new theory.

In that case try Q16 it's a highly oxygenated fuel.

Why 14cc-22cc head, I'd run a gx200 block with a 2.81 bore, arc stroker crank, 18cc honda head 32/28 valves, 55lb springs,308 or 310 cam from Isky, run it on q16, get you compression about 14:1-15:1 and put it on Q16( that's about as close to methanol you can get). Make sure you o-ring the head and use copper head gasket. After one race they'll probably ask you not to come back, that is if you can get your tire game right. IMHO I wouldn't even mess with any clone block when Hondas are easily attainable.

^^Q16 is bad A$$$.... Its expensive, but it picked my car up 10hp to the rear wheels. (over VP113, which is oxygenated some as well).
