Whats the best oil for boiling a turkey

Vegetable oil, and Canola oil have a 400 degree flash point, so as long as you cook it at 350 degree you'll likely be fine. But, if you're cooking at 375ish you'll be better off with Sunflower or Avocado oil. It's mainly the cooking temps you have to watch as to which oil you use.

Sunflower, Avocado, and Peanut oil all have flash points at or above 450 degree. Sunflower is 450, Avocado is 525, and Peanut is 550+.

Agreed.
Also best to use the turkey your going to use, and water in the pot and mark the level that you need before ever starting.
Over filling, and water are the 2 main reasons for fryer fires

This must be the first "what oil" question where everyone agreed.. I am allergic to peanut, anybody ever try anything else?
Crazy isnt it? The 'best oil' question has been going on since the day I first started reading Bobs 12-13 years ago.
