Why ruin a good thing?

We recently started a clone class here in northern california, its growing every week, the big draw is the cost of the engines. We had the opportunity to race two different tracks yesterday both run the "same" rules. When we showed up to the second track the karts had slide type carbs and some were on alcohol others had to have a starter box. When the promoter was questioned about these rules we were givin the run a round about why the carbs and billet rods etc. were needed my question is why ruin a cheap fun ever growing class with all these mods that make a $100 engine skyrocket in price? Sorry for venting i just want to know if im alone in this theory.

You said (2) tracks w/same rules, but then.....(?) However, the answer(s) to your questions are: #1....too many reasons to list, and #2...your 'theory' is sound! Good Luck/Have Fun!!
BTW....chk ur P/M

So what are you going to do?
Theres really nothing we can do. Run our karts at our track with the rules we run i guess. The biggest joke of the night was after the race was over they wanted to scale the top 3 karts i couldn't belive that they were goin to pick and choose what rules they wanted to follow. Rules are rules as far as im concerned.

Have you noticed that these rules get change at the urging of those that make money with a rule change.
If you have a board of directors, go to all the meetings and make your views known. I can almost guarantee you those that benefit from rule changes are there.

After the race they should weigh all the karts.

I agree they should weigh them IF they are following the rules but to pick and choose what rules they enforce i think its either you enforce all the rules or none. I would hope they enforce all to keep this a cheap fun class, not a biggest wallet wins class like so many others.

Unfortunitely, Clones are the most popular class in karting across the whole country now and that's where 'money' talks! Promotor's and Importer's are doing ALL they can too maintain their Fat wallets while racers and track operators are just treading waters! Situation not Good!

Majority rules! How many racers in the stock class and how many in the mod?Best way to get the promoters attention is get in his wallet!! If you don't like his rules don't run there. Theres no way you can run against the modded class so why waste your time and money. Go to the track, park outside and watch from the grandstands. take your kart and trailer and soon the promoter will see what he's doing.

Great idea....better yet, get the racers that agree w/you and all go as a group....'Banners' are cheap too (make them from cardboard)!

The best part of the night was the fact that 3 of our 5 stock carb, pump gas karts qualified in the top 3 and we put a old school whoopin on the other guys. We were way faster through the corners witch gave us more straightaway speed. Was a good felling to know we kicked butt the legal way. Lol

If you cant beat them by the rules your supposed to be running, step it up and beat them with their own rules, plain and simple. I dont like cheaters, and wont do it myself, however if there are no rules being enforced, then you basically are racing Run What You Brung style and anything goes. That looks to be the case from what your saying here. Find an extra old motor, put it together as best you can with a few extra mods inside to where it will keep up with the other guys, and use that engine only when you know your up against guys that are running those kind of engines. I always have one sitting around here just for that reason, i dont take being cheated too kindly.

( Hint: A 14cc honda Gx160 head alone works wonders for things like this)

come run atwater there will be a stock class and with good rules and its ran by a club all rules have to be voted on at meetings
i think for dirt there will be a box stock class and mod class

for the sprint side WKA stock class rules
and the dirt is the same in box stock but they allow the 212 also

......................... i couldn't belive that they were goin to pick and choose what rules they wanted to follow. Rules are rules as far as im concerned.

It appears that you are talking about the "rules" for the racers........but are complaining about the rules for the enforcers and how they are to be applied. Is there such a rule book for the enforcers?....... That describes in plain language what is to be done, by whom, and how.........if any racer is found to have violated a racer's rule? Are the enforcers required to take specific measures to a violator.........or are they free to apply or ignore the racers rules, as they see fit.?

Rules may be rules.........but how those rules are applied, ignored, or administered is up to the management........

Most of us know that driving in excess of the speed limit is against the rules (laws)..........but are glad that any officer observing us speeding has options. (1) the officer can ignore our violation and let us continue on our way. (2) the officer can stop us and give us a verbal warning. (3) the officer can stop us and give us a written warning. (4) the officer can give us a ticket (4a) the officer can give us a ticket for a reduced speed violation (4b) the officer can give us a ticket for the actual observed speed violation.
Few of us would complain that "a rule is a rule" and that the officer has no options on how to apply a violation of that rule.
Few karters would insist that the flagman not be allowed to use the folded Black Flag as a warning, but "MUST" wave the Black Flag for a violation.
