Zero Turn Mowers

Whats up guys? It's snowing in Western NY and I am shopping zero turn mowers. Looking for commercial quality 60". So far I like the Simplicity Citation. Price isn't to bad and it has a suspension. I kinda like that idea. Anyone have any recommendations?

Yea, Scag or exmark lazer. Both really good. Mom and dad have a exmark 60" zero turn and haven't done anything but mow in about 500 hrs

Scag. Or there is a real deal mower / everything do it all. Cant remmber the name but grt it and let you know. Snow plow/ blade and all.

being a racing guy when I make a big purchase I always ask myself does this company do anything for me? Bad Boy mowers supports racing at every level with a LOT of sponsorship money and they have some incredible mowers. they have a cat diesel 72" cut mammoth of a mower

I used to work for a company that had 6 landscape crews, each crew with 1 zero turn, 2 walk behind hydros. We had always used Scag, tried Exmark. Exmark was a good mower but the dealer was not too good and too far away. So....... some ding-dong convinced my boss to buy a couple of John Deeres with the 7 iron decks. Total crap. Parts ALWAYS had to be ordered because so much on them changed from year to year. I convinced him to return to Scag and has been much happier. Not only does Scag have great parts interchangeability from model to model (some even zero turn with walk behinds) but they have a vast dealer network. Even aftermarket parts abound for a Scag more than any other mower brand I've worked on. Since returning to Scags his parts overhead is less and operational costs are significantly reduced. Last I remember, Scag jumps from a 52" deck to a 61" deck.

I'm a big fan of a Hustler Super Z. Haven't shopped for a new one, though. I buy used stuff that has depreciated.

New Hustler Super Z or a used one would be a good buy! There solid, simple and easy to work on! There pretty popular around my area for commercial or acreage people.

I am a small engine mechanic. My opinion is Scag Exmark or Toro. John Deere only makes on good thing and that is tractors. Hustler is ok. Bad Boy not to great. Walker is a real nice mower expensive but the best mowing mower I have ever used. Scag would be my second choice to Walker. My dad owned a mower shop. He sold Toro and Scag. Toro is good but they have went to a warranty system that is based of hours instead of Years. Exmark is basically a Toro just a few differences but it's the #1 mower in the country.

When you do buy. Buy from a dealer not a box store.

Hope this helps.

Also, definitely get a demo before you buy. Scag was the smoothest riding at mowing speed. The worst: Hustler, even with the shock absorbing front wheels.

Wow. Lots of great info here and I sure do appreciate it. Sounds like Scag is the pro's choice but they cost a little more than I want to spend. I am looking in the 5-6K range. For what used ones go for I would rather buy new and having a dealer nearby means alot too. I have a Toro dealer not too far away so I will check them out. The Titan MX 6080 looks nice and I hear the Kawasaki is the engine to get. Toro has a powered bagger setup that looks pretty good too. I have alot of pine needles to pick up.
I have a Simplicity dealer nearby and that is why I was asking about them. Anybody have any opinions on suspensions like the Simplicity/Ferris models? Whatever I get the beer holder is a must!

What ever one you get make sure it has a beer holder! :)

Haha, also make sure the handles fit your wifes hands if your married. That's what I did when I was shopping for a mower, I went with one that was easy to start and easier to operate so my wife had no excuses. LOL
