Indiana asphalt oval

Would there be any interest in putting together a race at the Indianapolis speedrome? Talked to the owner and if we get enough interest we can make this happen if he can fit us in the schedule.

No, that would be the Velodrome (bicycle track.)

We ran karts there back in the day and had coverage on then, fledgling network ESPN2 (maybe you heard of it.) :)

Speedrome is a flat small 1/4 mile paved oval (and figure 8) on the southside of Indy. You can find videos on Youtube from there.
The Indiana LO206 champ karts have raced there for several years now.

Have you looked into the old Burris Fast Track near Vincennes?
It still exists but I have no idea what the current situation is on that track.
Maybe Kurt Burris or Capt. Nimo can answer that.

There is also the oval at NCMP that goes unused
Mt. Lawn, Anderson, Salem, and others have held races in the not too distant past.

...and I think they are currently running karts and champs at the Sportsdrome in Jeffersonville.

It was a different time for sure.

I've often wondered what it would take to put something like that together today...
One class, a short 30 minute or hour program, all taped live with minimal editing, and broadcast at a later date (week later or so.)
Sounds perfect for MavTV. All we need is a big sponsor to pay for the air time. :)

Karts on a figure 8 that sounds interesting.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes I've seen sportsdrome runs karts and I am trying to make a race before seasons end. And NCMP is a no go. Dismore hates the oval karters. I asked last season if he would be interested. I haven't heard anything of vincennes in years.

We drove past the track last weekend and it looks to be in decent shape still. I don't know what the surface is like, but someone's been keeping up the property, mowing grass, etc. From the highway, it looked like you could hold a race there next weekend.

Might try and look into it. That's a haul but might be worth it.
 
Can’t remember the name believe it was Speed Creek ?There was a little oval there it wasn’t to far from the windfall track that Ed Clark/ Jeff Hopper ran a few years back went on a Saturday night bc there wasn’t enough karts for our class at windfall it was a nice fast little oval

This would actually be great!!! The speedrome 5/8 mile, i have race there in the past in their street stock division. I would love it there isn't any kart track in Indianapolis. It would be awesome if we could run a Wednesday or Friday night. I am definitely interested keep me in the loop if we can put something together.

I know if we could get some interest speedrome might consider. They run champ karts there right now.
